Event Description

The planning system in England can be a complex, ever-changing and frustrating process. Knowing some tricks of the trade is crucial in navigating this minefield and for cutting out some of the bureaucracy. This seminar will bring you up to date with key policy and legislative changes, including insight into how EU regulations may change, and will give guidance on how to manage client risk and cost in the planning process to secure practice profitability in a time of economic uncertainty.

The seminar will cover:

1.        Housing and Planning Act 2016
The Housing and Planning Act received Royal Assent in May 2016, with many of the approved changes likely to being implemented in 2016. This seminar will provide an update on key initiatives such as Starter Homes and Permission in Principle (PiP), and how the recent changes will be implemented in practice.

2.     The Use of Section 106 Agreements
This session will provide a beginner’s guide to the purpose and use of Section 106 agreements in Planning. Using case studies guiding you through the process, it will provide useful tips on how to deal effectively and efficiently when you are negotiating and agreeing with Local Authorities. The session will provide an overview of the relationship between the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and Section 106 Agreements and how and why these are now used.

3.    Navigating through the Planning System Minefield – some tricks of the trade
An interactive session will aim to give you useful tips on how to get ahead of the game when preparing and submitting planning applications, working with Local Authorities and getting that planning permission.
